Hello everyone! First and foremost, SPRING IS HERE! The snow is melted and the grass is turning green! I'm not sure who is more excited, us or the waterfowl... they love this weather!
As I'm writing this blog we have goose eggs in the hatcher! This last few days of incubation feels like weeks as we are anxiously awaiting our first goslings of the year. The first hatch is mostly Africans with a few Sebastopols as well. We have been setting roughly 35 goose eggs each week, so we are hoping for a good hatching season.
We are also just beginning our Call Duck hatching. Both of our Pastel pens have began laying as well as a few Snowy Pens. We have checked fertility, and are very excited that we have fertile eggs from our 2013 National Champion Pastel Call! Hopefully the rest of the Snowy pens, Buff pens, and White pens kick in laying very soon.
And finally, an update on our chicken hatching. The birds are laying decent now, since the weather has gotten much better in Wisconsin. We are continuing to receive orders every day, so our waiting list is getting longer and longer. We are making our way through our orders, so if you have placed an order with us, it shouldn't be to long now. As always, please be patient and make sure to keep in touch.
Some more exciting news is that we will be firing up another GQF Cabinet Incubator this weekend.... those darn goose eggs take up a lot room and fill the incubators up quickly!
Thank you to all of our customers for being patient and understanding our difficulties during this delayed hatching season.
